Construction workflow: from bid to closeout
How to use DocumentLane at each stage of a project.
Prequalification (before bid)
Send the portal link with your prequalification template. Only invite subs to bid once their status is Complete.
Award and mobilisation
Ask for the signed subcontract, site-specific insurance and safety plan. Use e-signatures so nothing waits on a courier.
During the project
Watch the Expirations page weekly. Subcontractors get reminders 30 and 7 days before a COI or WCB clearance expires, and their status returns to In Progress if a document lapses — a clear signal not to release payment.
Closeout
Export the documents list as a spreadsheet for your project file, and use the Audit log to show who approved what and when.
